Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In the Course we shall examine the rich tapestry of Jewish life as it existed for centuries prior to the rise of National Socialism. The Course will focused on both internal Jewish life (family, religion, culture and the Jewish community) and external world of Austrian culture and society in which Jews and no-Jews mingled, made business relationships and cultivated friendships. How were the living conditions? What were their occupations? When did they marry and how many children did they have? What types of community’s organizations and institutes are found in Austria and what was their impact on the process of modernization? How did they relate to their neighbors, both Jewish and non-Jewish? We shall answer these and many other questions.
