060008 UE Inner-Biblical Interpretation (2013W)

Continuous assessment of course work

Course requirement: reading knowledge of biblical Hebrew ("Lektüre biblischer Texte" or equivalent)

Students are required to register for the course from the 30th of September to the 4th of October at the latest by sending an email to: eszter.katalin.fuezessy@univie.ac.at. Please include your name, Matrikelnummer, Studienkennzahlen in your email. It is also possible to register on the first day of the course, the 4th of October.
The syllabus for the course with all the necessary information will be available from the 30th of September online on the E-Learning Platform or in the library of the Institut für Judaistik (in "Handapparat Füzessy" under the course title "Inner-biblical interpretation").

Reading list

Students will be required to translate\prepare the primary sources in Hebrew - English\German. You should bring a Hebrew Bible to all the classes! There will also be short required readings of our main secondary source:

Fishbane, M. Biblical Interpretation in Ancient Israel. Oxford: Clarendon, 1985

A copy of the book is on reserve in the "Handapparat" in the library of the Institut für Judaistik (in Handapparat "Füzessy" under the course title "Inner-biblical interpretation"). Copies of the required readings of the book will also be available online on the E-Learning Platform.
