This seminar will be taught in blocked form. A first meeting to coordinate presentations and the class schedule will take place on March 12th 3-4pm in the Besprechungsraum of the Institut für Judaistik. Guests from the University of Helsinki will participate in this class.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Canonical processes and the (textual) standardization of canones were of key importance for the development of cultural memories in antiquity. The emergence of the Jewish canon and its (textual) standardization in antiquity will be approached interdisciplinarily in this class in the context of other ancient cultures and religions.
