Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

From the beginning until now, Jewish history and culture are characterized by exceptional achievements. This is all the more remarkable as the history of Judaism is also characterized by political and historical crises and the need to overcome them. To overcome such crises ancient Judaism developed the cornerstones of its thought and existence. In this two part lecture class, I will introduce you to the history, culture, religon, and literature of ancient Judaism from this bronze age beginnings until the destruction of the Herodian temple and the Second Jewish war. This second part of my lecture class will be dedicated to the time from the Perisan province of Yehud until the Second Jewish war.
