Egyptian Art and Architecture from the Second Intermediate Period until the Ptolemaic Aera.
On the base of illustrations, maps and plans, the development of ancient Egyptian buildings and their decoration will be demonstrated in examples. The topic includes temples, tombs, settlements and palaces, as well as as statues, relief of paintings. the lecture series is chronologically arrenged and covers the timespan from appr. 1600 B.C. until approx. 300 B.C.

Aims, contents and method of the course
To gain an overview of the development of the egyptian architecture and art from the Second Intermediate Period until the Ptolemaic aera. to recognize and to attribute objects and buildings in the specific periods of Egyptian development (stiles). Illustrations, plans, and maps are important for teh visual recognition. to learn about important scientific literature of egyptian art and architecture. Materials will be provided in excerpts on Moodle.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written exam.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
A minimum of 50% of the answers is necessary for a positive evaluation.
