Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Images were and are one of the main transmittors of Jew hatred. This seminar class will analyze antisemitic images in the context of the ideological history of antisemitism. It will further ask, to which extent antisemitic images contributed and contribute to the spread of Jew hatred. In this class students will search in the larger area of Vienna for antisemitic images and analyze the images they found, put them into their historical context and put them under critical review. Students will furthermore develop suggestion how to deal with the antisemitic images they found to counteract their message of hatred. For these purposes they will form research teams.Ideally students should attend my lecture class "The Ideology of Jew-hatred" as well.
