Aims, contents and method of the course
Die mit genuin numismatischer Methodik erstellten relativen Chronologien antiker Münzen hängen oft von außernumismatischer Evidenz als einem Anker ab, um sie als Zeugnisse in ihre Zeit zu setzen und historisch auszuwerten. Auf der anderen Seite sind im interdisziplinären Zusammenspiel zwischen numismatischer, archäologischer und literarischer Überlieferung Zirkelschlüsse niemals fern, und Wissensfortschritte einer Disziplin dringen oft erst deutlich phasenverzögert in Nachbardisziplinen vor. An zentralen Beispielen der griechischen, hellenistischen und römischen Numismatik wird derartigen "Eckpunkten" der Münzchronologie nachgegangen. Dabei sollen die unterschiedlichen Quellen, die Methoden zu ihrer Auswertung und der Forschungsgang beschrieben, schließlich der aktuelle Forschungsstand erfasst und kompetent bewertet werden. In einer schriftlichen Hausarbeit wird als einer kleineren schriftlichen Form vor der Abschlussarbeit die erfolgreiche Präsentation und Umsetzung von Argumenten in klarer Form und verständlicher Sprache erprobt.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Mündliches Referat (20 %) mit schriftlicher Seminararbeit (40 %); regelmäßige Mitarbeit (40 %).
