Aims, contents and method of the course

This course provides a deeper insight into the theoretical principles of aerial archaeological prospection and the joint interpretation of archaeological aerial photographs.
The aim of the course is to learn the theoretical (remote sensing, visual perception) and practical (image viewing and interpretation of archaeological aerial photographs) basics of aerial image interpretation.
Lecture with presentations; joint discussion; critical reflection; questions and contributions to discussions are encouraged during the lesson.

Assessment and permitted materials

Personal attendance required; active participation (involvement in discussions); independent work between units; written test in the last unit. Details will be provided in the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Completed course ‘Introduction to the Theory of Aerial Archaeology’
Personal attendance required.

A total of 100 points can be achieved:
- Independent completion of tasks as homework within a given time frame: 40 points
- Test in the last unit (11.6.2025): 60 points

Grading:
• 1 (very good) 100-90 points
• 2 (good) 89-81 points
• 3 (satisfactory) 80-71 points
• 4 (sufficient) 70-61 points
• 5 (not sufficient) 60-0 points
