UPDATE 30.4.
Due to the present crisis, the modus of home-learning will continue until end of June. The lecture part is still presented weekly in the learning platform moodle, as well as literature for home learning is indicated. Additionally, a large amount of online ressources is available via the university library.
A videomeeting is foreseen for 5.5. via moodle. The presentation of the essays is planned online for the 19.5. and 26.5., information will be sent out via e-mail in due time.
Changes in the modus of online teaching are possible, you will be informed in via e-mail.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The equipment of temples, in particular the statuary is the subject of the course. Various types of statues, colossal statues as well as small size objects are preserved, royal and private statues.
Some important contexts are the so called “Cachettes”, which have recovered a large amount of statues, but also single objects will be discussed.

The aim of the course is to gain knowledge about the statues, their typological and stylistic development, and to develop ideas for the interpretation of the religious and cultural function. The temple statuary is an important group of objects, which is significant also for the fundtion of the buildings.
Method: Preparatory reading of selected literature for discussions and for preparation of essais.
A selection of the demonstrated material will be provided via moodle.
UPDATE 30.4. Due to the prolongation of the homelearning situation all materials are uploaded in moodle.

Assessment and permitted materials

Due to the present situation of COvid-19 and the change to homelearning modus, a change is necessary for the evaluation of the course regarding the active participation, now exercises are regularly posted in the platform moodle. For the Essay presentation an online presentation is planned end of may. Information will be given in due time on moodle.

Active participation in class (reading of selected articles) 20%; and preparation of essays (20%)
Written exam at the end of the course. 60%

UPDATE 30.4.
Due to the prolongation of home learnign modus until 30.6. , the exam modus for the class teaching part will probably change into online-oral exams. information will be sent out in due time.
