Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture introduces the history of women and gender, its positioning in the field of science and its history of science. Social and scientific contexts of the question of women in history as well as the development of the category gender are central topics of the course. Questions and topics as well as concepts and theories of women's and gender history will be presented on the basis of texts and sources. Key concepts of feminist historical thinking on societies and social enviroments (such as representations of gender, constructions of the political, economy and gender, as well as sexualities and generativity) will be discussed. The importance, perspectives and limits of trans- and interdisciplinary approaches in dealing with the historicity of gender relations will also be addressed.

Assessment and permitted materials

The questions on the written final exam will be based on the content of the lecture (lecture, PowerPoint) and on the supplementary required reading posted on Moodle.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The written exam consists of an MC and an essay part. Both parts must be completed positively.
