Sources from the 12th and 13th centuries of the European Middle Ages, focus on courtly culture and contact between cultures. The 4 proposed primary sources come from "France" and the "German" Reich. The seminar paper will be based on one among these 4. It is however possible to build a seminar paper using other primary medieval sources from the periods, if the seminar's instructor allows it. An early agreement for this option is necessary. A WARNING: Presence at the first meeting of the semester is obligatory.
