Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Guano manure was a very effective but expensive fertilizer beginning in the middle of the 19th Century, and an important economical factor for Peru where the best known Guano was found. Starting with the Guano Islands Act passed by US Congress in 1856, the course will broaden its view to the "Guano Question" in the Atlantic World.
Besides general working skills in historical research the course will proceed to the special skills needed in Global History: Planning and organizing the research process, international search for literature and sources, citation styles, preparing and finishing papers.
