Aims, contents and method of the course

Von den Nekropolen der Antike über Friedhöfe bishin zu digitalen Gedenkportalen: die Art und Weise wie wir mit unseren Toten umgehen und ihnen gedenken kann als Spiegelbild unserer Gesellschaften fungieren. Trauer- und Begräbnispraktiken sind auch Themen, bei denen Konflikte zwischen individuellem und kollektivem Gedenken erscheinen können, und anhand denen solche Konflikte auch analysiert werden können. Zum Beispiel Kriegsgräberstätten und Soldatengräber, die sowohl als Orte politischer Symbolik als auch persönlicher Bedeutung für Nachfahren agieren, und in denen kollektive und individuelle Erinnerungspraktiken aufeinanderprallen.
In diesem Kurs werden Trauer- und Gedenkpraktiken anhand aktueller Forschungsliteratur, literarischer Werke, und verschiedener historischer Quellen (z. B. Filme, Fotos, Interviews, Zeitungen) untersucht.

Assessment and permitted materials

Bereitstellung wöchentlicher 1-pager in den entsprechenden Moodle-Foren, Präsentation dieser Dokumente im Plenum oder in Gruppen.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Regelmäßige, aktive und belesene Teilnahme und Mitarbeit. Vollständige und pünktliche Einreichung der 1-pager.
