Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture will give an overview of the extent and the various forms of global and regional migrations from the early modern period to the present. The focus is on the most important types of labor migrations and forced mobilities such as flight, displacement, and deportation. Gender-specific forms of migrations will be taken into account. Based on European migration patterns, the lecture offers an outlook on global trends in migration research. As an introduction, the status of historical migration research will be discussed.

Assessment and permitted materials

Writen exams (if necessary as open book online exams) with detailed and overview questions on the subject matter of the lecture and selected articles.
