Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture aims at providing some orientation in the thicket of that burgeoning field of research called "Global" or "World History". Key concepts, methods and objects of Global History shall be presented in order to stimulate students to position their own studies. A corpus of texts will be provided in moodle for reading in order to enlarge the view on the field and cast common ground for discussion.
This class consists of an introductory part (4 units) and a series of lectures on specific topics and approaches. After the initial introductory units on concepts and schools of Global and World History, a selection of Global History concepts, approaches and topics will be discussed. Every unit is supported by selected literature samples (texts will be available on moodle).
