Aims, contents and method of the course

The course examines the following areas of historical research in the Middle Ages: 1) The changeable constants of time understanding and time constructions, 2) Networking of religion and historiography, 3) Social structures and hierarchy from the Franconian transition period to the 12th century. One focus of the reading are the sources for the imperial history of the 10th-12th centuries. century. The course materials are available on the Moodle learning platform. Assessment and permitted materials

Two written homework assignments and the final exam. Regular attendance and participation in class. See performance control.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

See performance control.
In the final exam, 50% of the questions must be answered correctly and in detail. A homework assignment that deals with the topic correctly and is written in a good academic style with footnotes and a bibliography.

Examination topics

The examination material will be announced in good time and consists of two parts of the course.
