Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This practice course will offer a glimpse into the history of human rights since the 17th century using sources and scholarly texts
Assessment and permitted materials
Weekly assignments (40 %), participation in discussions (20 %) and a presentation + paper (20%); students are expected to be present in class, not more than two absences will be tolerated.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
-Basic capability to present historical knowledge in English
-Capability to acquire knowledge from primary sources in English
-Basic capability to present general knowledge and one¿s own thoughts on a scholarly subject in English

Examination topics
Practice course with discussions and presentations in class, preparatory readings with weekly written assignments

Lynn Hunt, Inventing Human Rights. A History (New York/London 2008); the book will be ordered for the students if they wish so.
