Our first meeting will take place on October 1, 2025, starting at 16.45 in the History Seminar Room 3, located at the main building, of the University of Vienna, 2nd floor, staircase 9, room O2.119. This meeting is primarily intended to provide an opportunity to get to know each other personally and discuss individual goals. Further meetings will be held mainly online, preferably on Saturdays and approximately once a month, in accordance with the students.

Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This seminar aims at accompanying ongoing theses that discuss various topics in the history of medicine, in particular ways of coping with health and sickness in a social, cultural, and economic context. However also topics dealing with scientific developments in medicine and the sciences, could be considered. The current work on the theses will be presented and discussed with colleagues, regarding the progress, but also considering difficulties that might arise regarding the ongoing research. This course will take place mainly online on Saturdays, according to the preferences of the students. Occasionally also students of medicine might be invited, to open up the opportunity of an interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and perhaps also further collaboration.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular and actively participating attendance, presentations or written elaborations of concepts, ideas, or results of the ongoing research or of specific chapters.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Regular participation, especially active involvement in discussions and presentations, elaboration of chapters
Examination topics
Will be suggested during the units with regard to ongoing research.
Reading list
Will be suggested during the meetings with regard to ongoing research.
