Assessment and permitted materials
Weekly Homework Assignments: 20%Individual Project One: 3D Video Recording Project: 20%
Description: In this assignment, students will produce a 3D video that captures an immersive experience or narrative. They will use VR video cameras to record the content, considering aspects like framing, movement, and viewer engagement. The project will culminate in a final edited 3D video, accompanied by a reflection on the recording process and the narrative techniques employed.Individual Project Two: 3D Scene Creation 20%
Description: Students will create a fully realized 3D scene using software such as Blender or Unity. This project will involve conceptualizing a scene that aligns with a narrative, modeling the environment and objects, and applying textures and lighting to enhance realism. Students will submit a project report detailing their creative process and technical challenges.Final Group Project: VR Storytelling Project: 40%
Description: For the final project, students will collaboratively design and develop a VR storytelling experience centered around a historical theme, object, or event. This project will require a combination of narrative development, 3D content creation, and VR video production, with an emphasis on accurately representing historical contexts and engaging audiences in an immersive exploration of history. The final submission will include a fully functional VR project that can be experienced in a VR headset, a comprehensive report detailing the historical research, narrative choices, and technical execution, and a presentation to the class highlighting the educational and cultural significance of their project.
