This class will introduce students to selected sources, documents, and scholarly articles from the field of historiography, politcal thought, essays, letters, historical speeches, etc.
A very good command of the English language is a precondition for class attendance.
Important INFORMATION: Students who are registered for this class on UNIVIS, but who fail to attent the first unit on March 7 without notice will be signed off.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Consult the Syllabus on MOODLE for more detailed information. - In general, students will read, study, and discuss a wide variety of texts from the English-speaking North Atlantic World from the period of 1763 to 1848, from Great Britain, the British Colonies in North America, and from the United States of America.

Assessment and permitted materials

This class will be taught in a highly interactive manner, and students will be expected and are required to fully participate in reading, analysing, and discussing the texts and documents, as well as to turn in their weekly assignments on time.
Grading will be based on regular class attendance, quality of class discussion, the twelve written assignments, and a written exam on June 27.
