Aims, contents and method of the course

The role of women in early psychoanalysis has been ignored by most historians. They were however highly gifted and made important contributions to theory and methodology of psychoanalysis. Their biographies reveil difficult and uncommon careers and show them actively participating in feminist, socialist and other political movements.

Introduction to the history of early psychoanalysis and investigation into the biographies of the first woman psychoanalysts.

Examination topics

Lectures, reading assignements and discussions in small goups, group reports and final papers.
