Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

During this course we will read primary and secondary sources in English. All the readings will be on topics related to East Asian history. The aims of the course are:
- to improve students' understanding of English as an academic language and as a source language (including old English).
- to improve students' ability to contextualize and critically analyse primary and secondary sources
- to improve students' ability to express their ideas in English (orally and in writing)
- to acquire a solid knowledge of specific English scholarly terminology, technical terms, etc.

Assessment and permitted materials

- Participation and Attendance in class: 0-20 pt
- Weekly written assignments (0-80 pt) including: short abstracts, source analyses, reviews (books, movies).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

To pass the course you need to reach 51 points. The grading scale of the course is as follows:

0-50 -> 5; 51-62.5 -> 4, 63-75 -> 3; 75.5-87.5 -> 2; 88-105 -> 1
