Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
A seminar devoted to an exploration of the cultural dimensions of war in medieval Europe (early and late Middle Ages), Japan (ca. 1180 to ca. 1600), and precolumbian Mexico (including the Spanish conquest).
Assessment and permitted materials
Some written exercises at the beginning of the semester, then a review essay (Stand der Forschung) on a theme to be determined in conjunction with the instructor, ideally with a comparative dimension. The review essay will involve a complete first draft and a final version.
