Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Islands in their global historical relevance as well as their role in diverse processes of globalization will be the specific object to discuss key theories, interpretations, and debates of Global Studies. The starting point of the course will be issues of methods and methodology supplied by various disciplines (history, geography, political science, law, economics ...) which will be linked to the corresponding (disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary) questions and theories. In addition, the most important sources in this context will be presented.
Assessment and permitted materials
active participation, contributions (presentations), short final written paper (15.000 characters incl. blanks).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Preparation of a stock of methods and methodologies linked to theories and contents by means of a concrete range of topics.
Examination topics
Lectures by teachers, discussions, presentations by students.
