Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This seminar aims at accompanying ongoing theses that discuss various topics in the history of medicine, in particular ways of coping with health and sickness in a social, cultural, and economic context. However also topics dealing with scientific developments in medicine and the sciences, could be considered. The current work on the theses will be presented and discussed with colleagues, regarding the progress, but also considering difficulties that might arise regarding the ongoing research. If required, this course could take place in hybrid form, with regular online meetings on Saturdays, sometimes also students of medicine might be invited to participate to open up the opportunity of an interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and perhaps also further collaboration.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular and actively participating attendance, presentations or written elaborations of concepts, ideas, or results of the ongoing research or of specific chapters.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Examination topics
Regular participation, especially active involvement in discussions and presentations, elaboration of chapters of the planned thesis.
Reading list
Will be suggested during the meetings with regard to ongoing research.
