Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar will be based on current research projects on identity building in the Middle Ages, the (early) modern period and present time. The challenge is to combine research on different epochs which are normally looked at separately. Students will work with primary sources from different categories such as texts, iconography, architecture and topography. Research perspectives will be gendered. The overall aim is to carry out research on identity building in view of "Europe", to learn to work with very different sources and to focus on a theory-based perspective.

Assessment and permitted materials

Continous attendance at the meetings, compliance with milestones, research paper.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

You will learn how to design a research topic and to carry out research in an international research context (identity building). You will be introduced into the international research field "identity building".

Examination topics

The seminar will be designed on the model of a real research project.
