Aims, contents and method of the course

Assessment and permitted materials

The evaluation is based on continuous assessment without a final exam. In the course of the semester, students will have to prepare several short- or mid-size written assignments (1-2 pages). These exercises will allow them to develop their ability to summarize, analyze and identify arguments and hypothesis. They will also have to prepare a bibliography and present one of the sessions in form of an Inputreferat.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

This course is based on continuous assessment (max. 2 absences). For a positive completion, all partial performances must be completed and positive; please note that all written assignments must be submitted on time! The overall grade results from the partial performances (participation to the class discussion: 30-35% and completion of all written assignments: 65-70%).

| 1: | 89-100 | Very good | Outstanding performance with no or only minor errors

| 2: | 76-88 | Good | Above-average standard but with some errors

| 3: | 63-75 | Satisfactory | Average performance with a number of notable errors

| 4: | 51-62 | Adequate | Standard but with a significant number of shortcomings

| 5: | 0-50 | Unsatisfactory | Failing grade
