Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

We will read, study, and discuss a wide variety of texts covering living standards in the pre-modern world. Topics will range from builders' daily salaries to the perception of wealth/poverty to the living circumstances of medieval monks and nuns.

Assessment and permitted materials

Grading will be based on regular class attendance, quality of class discussion, the presented paper and a written exam on June 17.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students will be expected to read and understand the documents, to practise academic discussion and presentation techniques.

Examination topics

The class will be taught in an interactive manner, and students will be expected and are required to fully participate in reading, analysing, and discussing the texts and documents, as well as to present a paper.
