Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture course will offer an overview of the history of the "long" 19th century, in which attention shall be paid to all parts of the globe in their various connections.

Assessment and permitted materials

1/3 of the final grade consists of a 6-8 pages paper to be handed in by the end of January 2010. If the paper is handed in before the end of December 2009, there will be feedback from the professor or her tutor that can still be included in the paper.

1/3 of the final grade consists of the performance in the final test.

1/3 of the final grade consists of the participation during the semester (presence obligatory!).

Basic cognizance about the repertory of the History of Late Modern Times

Basic knowledge about the position of the History of Late Modern Times within the
Historical Science and about its history

Expanded basic capability to historically classify structures and processes in the History of Late Modern Times

Expanded basic capability to handle questions of the History of Late Modern Times

Expanded basic capability to handle theories and narratives of the History of Late Modern Times
