Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

What interests people in museums? How do museums try to exhibit the past and enter into a dialogue with their visitors? Based on these questions, the course offers an introduction to musealisation, using Viennese city and district history. In close cooperation with the Wienmuseum, the basics of museum didactics are taught. Subsequently, the contents learned will be applied in practice. Exhibitions are visited together with experts and evaluated from different points of view.

Assessment and permitted materials

Weekly text reading and independent summary. Active participation in discussions during the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

It is expressly pointed out that the performance requirements of the proseminar are above average and that it adresses students particularly interested in the subject. Previous knowledge is not necessary, but constant cooperation is.
