Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course (LV) the basics of working skills in Global History will be worked out together. Using the topic “Global relations in Modern Times” the handling of literature is learned and practiced, as well as the formulation of a scientific question, the construction of a thesis, the presentation of a topic and the writing of a short scientific paper. After reading and analyzing a work about the “The Economic roots of the Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong” by Louis Augustin-Jean and Anthea H. Y. Cheung in some of the first units, all have to formulate an own topic (that could be a chapter of their thesis as well as any other topic of Global History) which they’ll present in the end of the course.

Assessment and permitted materials

Some short analyses about the topic “Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong”, a short paper about an own topic and a power point presentation of this paper.
