Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Students will learn about different types of historical sources and their uses in history education. The seminar focuses on the migration and mobilities in rural areas, which research in the history of migration has tended to neglect. Thereby it will open up new perspectives on a vital topic of public debate.

- students can distinguish between different types of historical sources
- they know about methods of source work in archives and libraries
- they are able to assess the significance of textual and visual sources as well as of artifacts for answering a specific research question
- they are able to build a historical argument connecting the analysis of sources and secondary literature
- they can assess the didactic potential of a historical source
- they know how primary sources can be used in history education and public history

Examination topics
Attendance and participation, oral and written assignments (25%), oral presentation of source work (25%), seminar paper, 10 pages (50%).
