070373 KU Reading Historiography (2012W)
Continuous assessment of course work
Labels
This class is meant to give an overall picture of the history of historical writing and historical research from the Antiquity onwards with a focus on the most influential authors and approaches in the Western tradition from the early modern era onwards. It will do so by means of the reading of texts, primarily in English, about those authors and approaches and of fragments of some of the most important or typical of their works. Texts will be taken from several anthologies and made available on moodle. They will all have to be read by all participants but will be introduced and commented upon by one or two students at the time.
