Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
One of the most inspiring new developements within jewish historiography was the introdocution of gender as a category of analysis. Whereas women's studies brought attention to the experience of women within a male dominated surrounding, gender studies explores cultural constructions of masculinity and femininity, in order understand political, social, cultural, and religious phenomena. This course seeks to discuss how the consideration of gender reshapes the existing understanding jewish history.
