Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This exercise is organised additionally to Dr. Anna Filigenzi's lecture "The Art of Medieval India: Buddhist, Hindu and Jain". Participation at the lecture is not a pre-condition, but highly recommended.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance, active participation at discussions, one presentation of a selected topic of 15-20 minutes as well as a 3-5 pages long written summary.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students shall equally aquire knowledge about Indian art from 500-1200 A.D. and train correct scientific working.

Examination topics

After a general introduction into the basic concepts of Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism and an overview on Indian art from 500-1200 AD, exemplary monuments will be presented and discussed within students' presentations.

Reading list

Da ein Großteil der Literatur auf Englisch ist, sind zumindest passive Englischkenntnisse notwendig.

Am Anfang des Semesters werden die wichtigsten Werke in Form von Handapparaten zugänglich gemacht. Relevante Artikel werden über die E-learning Plattform moodle zur Verfügung gestellt.
