080044 PS Case Study II/III: The Holy City of Jerusalem (2016S)
Continuous assessment of course work
Labels
The course aims at presenting the reasons and the modalities of the holiness of the city of Jerusalem. During the seminars, students will investigate buildings, images and texts dealing with Jerusalem. The Jewish, Muslim and Latin interests in the city will be scrutinized including cases of sharing of holy sites as well as cases of clashes regarding a site. Using Jerusalem as a case study, students will be encouraged to think about holiness and about how art and architecture were used and helped to shape and transfer the concept of holiness.
