Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course, we will devote ourselves to Persian book painting during its heydays from c. 1400 to c. 1600. We will discuss the question what Persian book painting is or might be, but inherent to this question is the way in which we approach our object.
The aim of this course is to provide an insight into various methods and approaches to Persian book painting by means of collective discussion and individual reading. The approaches will be analyzed critically and their application will be tested in specific cases. At the end of the course, participants are expected to be able to apply methods of analysis independently.
