Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

On the basis of the biblical text and his visualisations in the high and late Middle Ages questions of topical text picture research are analysed. A main focus lies on book illumination.

Assessment and permitted materials

presentation, written case study (15 pages), active participation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The course practises to independently develop and formulate questions of research.

Examination topics

All methods of the field art history as well as interdisciplinary attempts; a main focus lies on the iconographic method.

Reading list

New Testament, especially the Revelation of St. John.
