Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim is the comprehension of Austrian architectural development during the reign of the last rulers from Babenberg dynasty, which means the step from late romanesque to early gothic style. The interaction of local history, policy and stylistic as well as technological progress during the first half of 13th century will be given analyzing examples of specific architectural monuments in 12 lectures

Assessment and permitted materials

Within three hours five questions have to be answered. According to the "open-book"-test system the candidate is allowed to use personal skripts for detailed information

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

At least three questions have to be answered correctly to reach a postive grade. The grading will be given due to a point-system according to the quality of the answers. The grading scale is as follows: 87-100 points= excellent (1); 75-86,99 points= good (2); 63-74,99 points= satisfactory (3); 50-62,99 points= sufficient (4); 0-49,99 points= not enough (5)

Demanded is a survey knowledge of the contents of all 12 serial lectures

Reading list

During the lectures the students received more than 100 recommandations of concerning literature. To be suggested will be the book, written by the leader of the lecture: Mario Schwarz, Die Baukunst des 13. Jahrhunderts in Österreich, Wien-Köln-Weimar 2013
