Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Viennese collections, such as the Museum of Ethnology or the Museum of Applied Arts, also house Asiatic objects of art from various epochs and with different religious, geographical and historical contexts.
In the case study, we will study and discuss objects and topics related to the history of these institutions.

Assessment and permitted materials

Mandatory attendance and active participation, text analysis, 15 -20 minute presentation, handout, draft of the written paper, written case study (15 pages)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The goal of the course is to teach students techniques for the independent preparation and presentation of an art historical topic as well as critical analysis of relevant literature.

Examination topics

Following an introduction to the cultural-historical background, the students have to present selected objects and topics, which will be discussed in the group.
