Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course, students will become familiar with the media, genres and evolution of Chinese painting, from early imperial excavated material to the monumental landscape painting of the 11th and 12th centuries. Students will have the opportunity to better understand both portable media, such as silk and paper scrolls, as well as murals in tombs and religious contexts.

Assessment and permitted materials

Presentation, written essay and participation in class exercises.
