Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The series of lectures will present a particular phase of the development in architectural history in Austria between 1200 and 1250. Basing on a detailed study of he historical background, the architectural activities of the Dukes of Austria from the Babenberg dynasty as well as those of the bishops of Passau will be discussed, comprising their competition to achieve the most developed and actual forms in gothic style.

Assessment and permitted materials

Evaluation by means of written test in front of slides. The first examination will take place directly after the series of lectures in January 2013

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The contents of the lectures will explicate a specific case, in which a particular problem opened the sight to reconsider the general development of the period in question.

Examination topics

The lectures will be presented by powerpoint-conferences.

Reading list

A bibliography will be distributed during the series of lectures and will be publicated at the platform "moodle"
