Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Infrastructures co-produce society by serving the supply of society and being socially cared for.
In this seminar, we will explore the question of how infrastructures and infrastructuring can be thought of in terms of empirical cultural studies.
Among other things, we will trace how the conceptual interest has developed from infrastructures as objects to infrastructuring as practice. We will familiarise ourselves with case studies in the international literature that have developed the aspects of supply and care using various examples (water supply, road construction, public transport, etc.).
The aim is to design our own case studies on the basis of individual reading and discussion in the seminar. Visits to the Vienna Museum and individual research will contribute to this.
