Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Here is the English translation:

**In this seminar, we engage both theoretically and empirically with the multiple uses of urban spaces. We begin by familiarizing ourselves with the widely referenced concept of the "third place" (Oldenburg 1989), which describes the use of spaces that are neither workplaces nor homes, such as libraries, local pubs, and similar venues. Why is this concept still relevant today? Through readings, we explore competing concepts that have historically and contemporarily addressed multifunctionality and examine the empirical research perspectives that emerge from them.

Finally, we analyze self-selected examples to explore the temporality, territoriality, subjectivation, and imagination of places that serve more than one function in urban space. Can we identify spatial qualities that go beyond the 'third place' concept?**
