Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the course is to train "STEOP-assistants", who will mediate exercises for students in their first term during the academic year 2018/19. As these exercises will be focused on the description of art works, which are executed by visual media, the skills of the trainees should improve during the summer term 2018, especially the ability to characterize art works in oral and written form. Part of the trainee's preparation for subsequent teaching will also be an introduction into "kinesthetic learning". The lessons will take place in situ (in museums, exhibitions and around the city) to the extent possible.

Assessment and permitted materials

Evaluation will be based on oral contributions and written papers (description exercises) as well as teaching concepts, further lesson-protocols and contributions to a glossary.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Excellent knowledge of architecture terminology, competence in the description of art works of all categories.

Examination topics

Competence of the future STEOP-assistents in analyzing and describing works of art, ability to create teaching designs for lessons for beginners, and pedagogical abilities.
The Center for Teaching and Learning will support the pedagogical aspect of the training by providing courses that introduce methods of group leadership, forms of feedback etc. Participation in three workshops (two half-day and one full-day) of the Center for Teaching and Learning is obligatory for a positive grade and employment as a STEOP-assistant.
