Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The Institute Colloquium is dedicated to cultural studies discourses also beyond the boundaries of the discipline; in addition to European Ethnology and Cultural and Social Anthropology, contributions include Philosophy, History, Cultural Studies and Performance Studies. This semester, the Institute Colloquium is dedicated to the topic of "Holiday in the Countryside" and thus offers at the same time content-related supplements to the exhibition "Zimmer frei - Urlaub auf dem Land" ("vacant room - Holiday in the Countryside") at the Haus der Geschichte - Museum of Lower Austria, which will open on Sept. 22, 2023. The conception and storyline of the exhibition was largely developed by a two-semester study project at the Institute of European Ethnology, which took place in 2022/23 and resulted in an ongoing exhibition in the Institute's showcases. The Institute Colloquium provides an interdisciplinary forum for dialogue on the topic "Holidays in the Countryside. A Cultural Studies Approach." In addition to content-related discussions, to which speakers from different disciplines, locations and perspectives are invited, the colloquium also offers the opportunity to present and discuss ongoing projects at the Institute for European Ethnology.
