Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to topological approaches in art history, both in the French and the German traditions (Hubert Damisch, Georges Didi-Huberman, Wolfang Kemp and his school...).

Assessment and permitted materials

Discussions, oral presentations, papers.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The course aims at fostering the students' competences in reading theoretical texts, analysing works of art and devolping art historical arguments.

Examination topics

Each participant prepares an oral presentation on a chosen topic and (hopefully) writes a well researched and argued paper of about 15 pages (with footnotes).
