Aims, contents and method of the course

History of the line in (mostly European) art from ca. 1800 till ca. 1960.

Assessment and permitted materials

Discussions, oral presentations, papers.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

We shall read and analyse theoretical texts and works of art and develop art historical arguments. Each participant prepares an oral presentation on a chosen topic and (hopefully) writes a well researched and argued paper of about 15 pages (including footnotes).

Examination topics

Maieutics and dialectics.
