Aims, contents and method of the course

Schwerpunkt der Fallstudie sind die Bildinhalte der buddhistischen westtibetischen Malerei (11.-16. Jh.) mit besonderer Betonung auf ikonographische Besonderheiten. Im Verlauf der Lehrveranstaltung werden Teile des spätbuddhistischen Pantheons und die Eigentümlichkeiten der Region im Vergleich mit anderen Gebieten erschlossen. Dabei sollen auch komplexe Kompositionen analysiert werden.

Assessment and permitted materials

Beurteilung: 20-minütiges Referat und schriftliche Arbeit zu einem ausgewählten Thema, aktive Mitarbeit.

Examination topics

vergleichende Bildanalyse, kritische Lektüre wissenschaftlicher Texte.
Vorteilhaft sind englische Sprachkenntnisse für die Lektüre.
