Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to the varied life experiences of women in Byzantine society, with special emphasis on the different types of sources and their representation of women.

Instruction in the foundations of independent scholarly work, including the use of different types of soures. Engagement with issues of womens’ and gender history.

Assessment and permitted materials

Art der Leistungskontrolle:
Beteiligung an der Diskussion (10%), mündliches Referat (30%), schriftliche Seminararbeit (60%).

Erlaubte Hilfsmittel sind alle thematisch relevanten Quellen und Forschungsliteratur, gedruckt und digital, die wissenschaftlichen Ansprüchen entsprechen.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participation in class discussion (10%), oral presentation (30%), written research paper (60%)
